GALEX TDS Alerts
New GALEX observations are checked for variable sources every 24 hours by the GALEX science team. Alerts for validated variable sources will be posted on this page.
Criteria: any alert candidate must have increased by 0.8 magnitudes when compared to any previous magnitude in either bandpass. In addition, the compared magnitudes must have errors less than 0.2 magnitudes, and the objects must be within 30 arcminutes from the center of the field. The alerts posted here are culled from the candidates passing these criteria. The completeness of this culling varies depending on the total number of candidates produced each day and the time available for culling, i.e., this list is in no way presented as complete at this time. The latest, culled GALEX variable alert notices are listed below. Clicking the coordinates will perform a search of the SIMBAD database within 5 arseconds of the position. Clicking on the name of identified objects brings up the SIMBAD database entry for galactic objects and the NED database entry for extragalactic objects.
NOTES: Be sure to refresh this page to view the latest alerts. Only GI cycle 5 data are currently checked for variables.
