On May 29, the Galaxy Evolution Explorer's far-ultraviolet instrument reported an overcurrent condition and shut down. The project reviewed data from the incident and confirmed it had the same characteristics as three previous incidents occurring in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

The process to restore the far-ultraviolet detector on the Galaxy Evolution Explorer has been successfully completed, and the instrument resumed full, normal operations on December 17.

GALEX Status Update: Nov. 27, 2007
The far-ultraviolet detector on the Galaxy Evolution Explorer experienced an overcurrent condition on Saturday Nov. 17, and was shut off by the instrument's on-board fault protection. The on-board near-ultraviolet detector continues to operate normally.
